The Loss Of Someone Close To You .
One of the saddest times in our lives is the loss of a loved one, and the grieving process is both harrowing to watch, and to endure. Individuals grieve in different ways – some find it difficult and their lives become a misery and others find it easier and are able to carry on with daily life.
The grieving process can be long and the first stage is most certainly denial. Denial tends to be the first reaction someone feels when informed of the loss of a loved one. Many people will ask why the person has left them alone and then the denial will set in and they will refuse to believe they have really gone.
As we realise they have left us, anger may well set in. Leaving children behind or leaving someone widowed and alone can make people feel angry, as when we have kids or marry, we presume they will be with us for life. Unfortunately for some, this isn’t the case.
Depression may then set in as we learn to realise we really are on our own and no matter how angry we get, or upset, they are not coming back. There are many people who become that depressed they refuse to leave the house or talk to people and others have to take medication to overcome their feelings. Emerging from depression may take weeks, months or, in extreme cases, years, and it is at this time, that we have finally accepted the loss, and realise that life must go on for both ourselves, and our family and friends.
Best handled together with the help of family support and bonding, grief can be a very emotional and sad journey. To help overcome the great sadness and grief that you feel, share the loss of a loved one with close family and friends and learn to rejoice in their life instead of mourning your loss.
